Getting out of the deprived inner-city suburbs of Birmingham was always the goal: all that had to be finalised was the method. At first she thought that the Aston Saints was the way, a riot grrrl band who find that sisterhood and talent will take you a long, long way. And then she found the places where reality grows thin, and discovers abilities that should not exist in the cold light of day.
